Action Filled FV6A Grand Race

May, Sepang - In the most action packed weekend of the Formula V6 Asia history, the race almost ended as soon as it began. An over aggressive move made by teenager, Adderly Fong on the inside of Marchy Lee on turn one resulted in a disastrous pile up that ended the race for Lee, Karl Reindler, Armaan Ebrahim, Ken Lee and himself. Hanss Lin’s manoeuvre onto the gravel saved him from the collision and allowed him to join the race.

Speaking to Fong after the race, he said “I made a move for a corner that wasn’t there. It was my mistake and I am so sorry”.

Chalking it up to inexperience, the young driver promises to be more cautious at the next outing. The race had to be restarted after a 20-minute delay, allowing for some of the teams to make quick repairs to the cars.

At the restart, Seth Ingham immediately pulled away from the pack to take an uninterrupted win.

“I didn’t realize what had happened at Turn 1 before the restart. I managed to get in a good start and was pulling away for the lead and when I got to turn four or five, I looked around and saw that I was alone” said Ingham at the Post Race Press Conference.

“Although I felt bad for the guys that were involved, I am happy for this win. Its good to be able to collect these very important points for the team” he continued.

Although Hanss Lin finished second on the road after the resumption of the race he was demoted to fourth after a 30 second time penalty incurred under the regulations for resuming from the pit lane. Second place was awarded to Partiv Sureshwaran. The decision also moved Indonesian star Satrio Hermanto up the ladder to claim third and the all important 10 points for the championship.

One of the casualties of the day, Reindler said that its all part of racing. “I will be looking forward to the next race, its on the full track which I have raced on before. The guys in the team have been great. They did a fantastic job this morning and things were looking good for us today”.

The next race will be held once again at Sepang International Circuit, as part of the Super GT on 23-24 June 2007.
